F.A.Q. – Your Questions Answered

Is hypnosis safe?

Yes. Hypnotic trance is a natural state of heightened awareness and inward focus. It is associated with the alpha and theta brain waves where you will be highly suggestible. However, you will only accept suggestions that you agree with and that are beneficial to you. A light hypnotic trance feels similar to a deep relaxation. Actually, you enter it many times during a day – while driving a car on an autopilot, daydreaming, or becoming so engrossed in a film or book that you no longer pay attention to your surroundings.

Will I lose control?

No, you will ALWAYS be in control. I cannot make you do things you don’t want to do, or that would harm you. If I asked you to stand up, you would, right? But if I asked you to rob a bank, you would not do that. It is just the same in hypnosis – you are in control throughout the entire session. And you only accept the suggestions that are given to you if you feel it is in your interest to do so.

How many sessions do I need?

Between 1-3 sessions, depending on how deep the issue is. We will estimate the number of session in our initial call based on the information presented at that time. Usually, I recommend 3 sessions for a profound and lasting transformation. However, you may experience a powerful shift in as little as 1 session. In this case, we can choose to work on other areas during the second and third session.

How long is a session?

Hypnotic regression session takes approximately 90-120min.

What if I won’t be able to leave a hypnotic state?

Don’t worry, that’s a myth. People don’t get “stuck” in hypnosis. I’ve never heard of someone entering a hypnotic state and not being able to leave it. That’s because it’s not possible. If I stopped talking or fell asleep, you wouldn’t be stuck in trance – you would wake up and come back to your full awareness the moment you realized I’m not talking to you anymore.

When can I expect to see changes?

It’s personal, but there are 3 types of change:

  • Immediate: right away you notice a massive shift- just during or after the session you become aware of changes in your psyche, mood, beliefs, even in your physiology;
  • Incremental: after the session you observe consistent shifts every day, or over time.
  • Retroactive: you may not notice the shifts right away, until, one day, you suddenly see it – you look back and see how profoundly your life, your habits of thought and habits of actions have already changed. Sometimes you find other people pointing out those positive changes in you too.

How is the RTT method different from everything else I’ve tried before?

The RTT method which I use in my therapeutic programs doesn’t treat the symptoms, but it gets straight to the root cause of an issue. It uses hypnosis to uncover and understand the subconscious belief that you formed in the past that has caused the issue and is still there, but it’s no longer useful and beneficial to you.

After you become aware of the underlying beliefs and patterns that have been holding you back, you and I’ll embark on a journey of understanding, reprogramming and transformation.  Together, we’ll reframe them and replace with new, empowering versions.

What’s more, people choose RTT because it is a contemporary method that meets the needs of the 21st century lives. It delivers lasting results quickly. As a psychologist, I recognize that this differentiates RTT from a regular talk therapy where it’d take months or years to get results.

My approach is also about focusing on what you really, really want, instead of what you don’t want. And it’s not about general wishy-washy affirmations. It’s all about powerful breakthroughs and directing your subconscious mind straight to what you desire. Knowing how the mind work,  we make it work for you, not against you.

I’m quite logical. What if I don’t go deep enough?

Don’t worry about how deep you go. It’s been scientifically proven that the depth of trance is not linked to results. Both light and deep trance are equally effective. What really matters is your commitment to your transformation. When you tell yourself the truth: “This is working” – it will absolutely work.

Is RTT Hypnotherapy covered by health insurance?

When you follow my hypnotic RTT Experience, it will be (partially) reimbursed by most Dutch health insurance companies. For this you need additional insurance. Always check with your health insurance company if you are eligible for ‘Hypnotherapy‘, so you will know for sure.

Not every RTT Therapist and certainly not an RTT Practitioner will can offer you such reimbursement. I am one of very few RTT Therapists in the Netherlands who has been recognized by the Dutch Healthcare System, is a psychologist and member of professional associations and my services are eligible for reimbursement.

Are there any specific conditions or circumstances that would make me ineligible for Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) sessions?

Yes, for the safety and well-being of clients, RTT cannot be applied to individuals with a history of:

  • Auditory/visual hallucinations

  • Epilepsy

  • Dissociative disorders

  • Personality disorders

  • Psychosis

  • Schizoaffective disorder

  • Schizophrenia

It is important that individuals seeking RTT services do not have a history of these particular mental health concerns. This policy is in place to ensure the utmost safety, comfort, and effectiveness of our hypnotherapy sessions.
